In the lead up to my mid project presentation my main focus was to create a white card model to represent my rough ideas for my model box i refined the soviet centre inspired building by trying to make it more useable with platforms for the actors to walk across. also how this piece would relate to the arches around it. at one point I wanted to make a bridge between the archway and the sharp soviet centre however I realised what I really wanted to represent with these two very separate architectural styles was that they were in friction and opposite to each other. The way i decided to show this was with a collision between the two buildings which gives the sense of these two cultures destroying each other and the country that they are in.

The curved staircase emerged from the soviet centre structure from an image I found of the Abdul Aman palace i really felt this was an important element to include as it shows the ruined splendour of a palace.
The feedback I received from my presentation, was I needed to make the collision between the two buildings much more obvious also to make sure that the two of the structures together would not be troubling for the audience or not make sense. the way I decided to resolve this was through the colour scheme of the two buildings as they are both very sandy coloured also by defining the collision and tension point through cracks in the structure should make clear they are not the same building.

Also after my tutorial the feedback I received was the collision was too unsubtle with foam therefore I had to cut away pieces of the foam to create a more realistic break in the stone also remake the curve archway a standalone structure by layering bits of card and scored foam board. The next step will be to further develop the textures of concrete and gun shots on the buildings. also i need to build metal stairs onto the structure to make it more usable for the actors within the piece.
