Other areas I researched and developed simultaneously was the idea of the façade and a backstage being presented on stage. I began researching Victorian period dressing rooms, and I also felt that by showing the girls in the dressing room onstage it makes it clear that they are ‘putting on a show’ which gives context to the many different musicals being performed. A designer who I found particularly inspirational in this idea was Rufus Didwiszus and his production of the prodigal son.

What I found particular interesting was the use of exposed flats in the design it is very bold that these flats would move around also, it is very self aware about the fact that it is a production. I thought this would be such an interesting idea taking the clearly fake music hall set putting them on flats that were not masked maybe even having the actors running around behind. However my director felt that there was not enough actresses to pull this off properly as having them on stage all the way through in the dressing room would not be viable.
