I wanted to find a generic space for my set because of the varied musicals that were to be performed. On area that I looked at the resolve this was broadway melodies of 1940 in hollywood. I was really interested in the abstract shapes. In lots of ways it is very glamorous without being too specific which is exactly what i thought I would need.

However the director felt that this would clash too much with the musicals that were set in earlier periods such as calamity jane. In reaction to these comments I thought setting it in MGM dressing room would make it much more generic and functional. However having a dressing room on stage with such few actors (6) was apparently not viable.
